The AIOps Foundation course introduces participants to the fundamental concepts, technologies, and practices of Artificial Intelligence for IT Operations (AIOps). Developed by the DevOps® Institute and managed under PeopleCert, this course provides a structured learning path for understanding how AI and machine learning can enhance IT operations, improve service reliability, and drive smarter automation.

Participants will explore the history and evolution of AIOps, its distinction from traditional IT Operations Analytics (ITOA), and its growing role in digital transformation. Through a blend of theory and practical application, learners will gain insight into key topics such as big data, supervised and unsupervised machine learning, performance metrics, anomaly detection, and real-world AIOps use cases.

The course also addresses essential organizational elements like culture shifts, the PDCA cycle, ethical considerations, and challenges in implementing AIOps. Learners will be equipped with foundational knowledge of AIOps tools, terminology, and techniques that prepare them for the AIOps Foundation certification exam, supporting future roles in IT operations, DevOps, and site reliability engineering (SRE).

Exam Format :

  • - 40 Questions.
  • - Multiple Choice.
  • - Time Allowed: (60) Minutes.
  • - Open-Book.
  • - Minimum Required Score to Pass: (65%).
  • Learning Outcomes

  • A clear understanding of what AIOps is, how it evolved, and how it differs from traditional IT Operations Analytics (ITOA).
  • Insight into the drivers influencing AIOps adoption within modern organizations and how it supports digital transformation.
  • Knowledge of core data concepts, including big data characteristics, structured and unstructured data types, and the Five V’s of data (Volume, Variety, Velocity, Veracity, and Value).
  • A solid foundation in machine learning principles, including supervised and unsupervised learning, and how these models are used to support AI-driven analytics.
  • The ability to identify, interpret, and apply key operations metrics such as MTTR, MTTA, MTTD, and MTBF in the context of performance monitoring and incident response.
  • Practical awareness of real-world AIOps use cases and how organizations shift from reactive to proactive and from deterministic to probabilistic models.
  • Understanding of how to evaluate the business impact of AIOps using DevOps and SRE metrics, including DORA (DevOps Research and Assessment) indicators.
  • The tools and strategies needed to implement AIOps in the organization, including handling ethical concerns, data privacy, and common challenges in deployment.
  • Familiarity with AIOps terminology, concepts, and techniques to confidently pursue the AIOps FoundationSM certification exam.
  • Who Should Take This Course?

This course is ideal for IT professionals, operations teams, DevOps engineers, site reliability engineers (SREs), and managers who are involved in IT operations and service management. It is also suitable for data analysts, AI/ML practitioners, and technical decision-makers who want to understand how Artificial Intelligence and machine learning can be applied to enhance IT operations.

Upon successfully passing the examination for this course, participants will be awarded a certificate, an example of which is shown below.
